London

Cliffs Notes Version:
London was essentially a stopover on the way to Dubrovnik, but we got some good sightseeing and grub in for the few hours that we had.

Day 1

Day 1 ... the 48 hour day, whatever you’d like to call it, it was quite the tiring event. We flew out of Washington at 7 p.m.-ish, and got no sleep in the air due to classics such as “Music & Lyrics” being played on 24 hour loop. Call me crazy, but I can’t get meez enough Hugh Grant.

Anyway, we got into London around 9 in the morning, but it was still the same day in our eyes since we had never actually seen the sun set. So ... running on about an hour of sleep we took to the streets of London ... well, almost, first we had to deal with that whole luggage situation. We didn’t feel like dragging around a couple ginormous backpacks for the few hours we had in London, so I went to the hostel I had stayed at a few weeks ago when I came to London with some college friends. Luckily, a female was working the front desk ... after a couple winks and whispers of sweet nothings she allowed us to stow the luggage in their luggage room. I’m so effing hot!

Only a few hours in London, but definitely time to stop at a pub

Anyway, we only had a few hours in London ... pretty standard stuff. We walked around a bit and saw Parliament, a few bridges. Then we got our bags and headed back to Gatwick to fly off to Dubrovnik.

We got into Dubrovnik pretty late. Due to a miscommunication about the exchange rate between myself and an English chap, I thought that our cab ride from the airport cost us $150. Colleen and I thought we had been taken and were sad, sad pandas. When we finally figured out the accounting error we felt much better, but then felt bad for dragging the cabbie into the alley and pummeling. It wasn’t hard getting Colleen to join in on the melee, she was already upset about the “high” cab fare, but I also told her the cabbie said her cheesecake tasted like ass. It was on.
