Croatia and Western Europe |
Above there is a map that shows where we were. Click on the location on the map for blogs about each city or you can just click on the city name at the top of each page. | This trip was essentially a one year anniversary trip for us. We didn't want to do the completely relaxing all inclusive resort thing like we did for our honeymoon, but we didn't want to do the blazing backpacking trip from one city to another. We compromised and decided to spend our anniverary (plus a few days) in Dubrovnik, since it had warm weather, beaches & islands and our hotel was a mini-resort (as opposed to the hostels we usually stay in). Figuring out the rest of the itinerary involved cities we thought would be nice to see, but came mostly down to us being cheap. We flew in and out of London because that was the cheapest gateway to Europe. From there, we found a site that had very cheap one way legs between different cities, but there was no rhyme or reason to which legs were offered at the super low price. There was one from London to Dubrovnik, but not a return flight back. There was a trip to Rome, however, so we did that. From there, we thought Venice would be cool, and a one-way from Venice to Brussels existed which worked out because we could take the Chunnel back to London to catch a return flight. Everything worked out as these were all cities we wanted to see, and the flights we got were much cheaper than using alternative flights or taking trains. |
