Figuring out an itinerary is a bit complicated. Australia, land mass wise, is comparable the United States. We knew Sydney was a must. We also knew we wanted to do the Great Ocean Road so Melbourne and Adelaide as book ends made sense. Finally, we added Uluru to the list to get a taste of the Outback and Cairns to the list to experience the Great Barrier Reer and rainforest. We wanted to make it out to Perth and do a side trip to New Zealand, but time didn't allow it.
